M.P.H. IN PUBLIC HEALTH EQUITY

is a 45-credit hour, in-person program for professionals who wish to gain a new understanding of Public Health through the lens of equity. Through this program, you will explore the core beliefs and functions of Public Health and evidence-based science.

Why MPH?

Based on the current work of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health and the Council on Education for Public Health, this program educates you in the environmental, biological, genetic, behavioral, and psychological factors, and globalization effects related to human health.

Required Courses

In addition to satisfying these goals, the MPH in Health Equity will be assessed based on the learning objectives and competencies listed for each individual course. Identified key domains and preliminary core constructs around which the assessment of the MPH Program will be assessed are:

  • Evidence-Based Approaches to Public Health

  • Public Health and Health Care Systems

  • Planning and Management to Promote Health

  • Policy in Public Health

  • Leadership

  • Communication

  •  Interprofessional Practice

  • Systems Thinking

Admission Requirements

  • Graduate Application
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended
    • Please note: Applicants must submit a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Three Academic or Professional Letters of Recommendation
  • Statement of Interest 
    • Please, clearly express your interest in public health, and why you are pursuing this degree. Also, explain your professional goals, how your goals relate to this degree, and what have you done, either academically or professionally, to guide your interest in public health?
  • Graduate Record Exam Revised (GRE): Test-Optional
    • Note: The median test scores are 280 combined on the GRE
  • Prerequisite Courses: Introductory Biology or General Biology; and College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus or Statistics
  • TOEFL Score
    • *Students who are not native speakers of English will be required to pass the TOEFL and demonstrate English speaking comprehension skills appropriate for service delivery. A minimum TOEFL score of 600 on the paper-based exam, or 100 on the internet-based exam, must be achieved on a test taken within the last two years. Students may be referred for accent reduction or ESL instruction
