College of Pharmacy Admissions Process

Requirements and Admissions

  • All required (prerequisite) courses must be completed with a letter grade of C or better prior to entrance into the professional pharmacy program. Grades of C- or less are not acceptable.
  • Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.00 scale), a minimum pre-requisite science and math GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.00 scale) is required in science and math courses.
  • 500-word Personal Statement of Interest 
    • At least 2 letters must be from math or science instructors who taught you in class.
    • 1 letter can come from a previous supervisor/manager in a work setting. Letters from family members are prohibited. 
  • Complete Xavier-COP’s on-campus interview process (by invitation only).
    • Applicants can be interviewed while pre-requisite courses are in progress.

  • The second letter should be from a science professor or pre-health advisor from the pre-pharmacy curriculum

Complete XUCOP Pre-Pharmacy Requirements Once most of the XUCOP Pre-Pharmacy Requirements have been completed, you are ready to begin the application process. Although some of the prerequisites can be missing at the time you are applying, ALL XUCOP Pre-Pharmacy Requirements MUST be completed prior to beginning the Pharm.D. Program.  All prerequisites coursework must be satisfied with a grade of “C” or higher and must be completed prior to fall 2021, of the year of entry into the program. (You may be in the process of completing the prerequisites when you submit the application, but all prerequisites must be satisfactorily completed prior to the year of entry into the program.)

To be eligible to apply, applicants must have a minimum, cumulative prerequisite and math-science GPA of 2.75 (both math/science and non-science prerequisite GPAs; all grades must be “C” or better) calculated for Xavier College of Pharmacy PharmCAS application.

  • PharmCAS application must be submitted before April 3, 2023 deadline. 
    • Application opens July 1, 2022.
  • Transcripts due to PharmCAS by April 3, 2023 application.
    • For students who attended international institutions, you must submit to PharmCAS and evaluation from World Education Services.
  • In person interview with XUCOP faculty and staff.
  • A holistic review of applicant's credentials, documentation, and interview is performed.
  • If an applicant is offered admissions into the College of Pharmacy, the Acceptance Deposit can be remitted here.

On-Site Interview Upon completion of the PharmCAS Applications, the Admissions Committee will review completed applications and may extend an interview to qualified applicants. It is anticipated that interviews will begin in the fall of the application year. Applicants invited for an interview will be notified by email indicating the date and time their interview will take place at Xavier University College of Pharmacy. Applicants will be interviewed by two faculty members. The interview is designed to evaluate the applicants' interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills. An interview score is calculated and is utilized in making admission decisions.  The interview is a required part of the application process. If you decline our invitation, your application will be canceled and you cannot be considered for admission.

After the Interview

Upon completion of the interview process, the applicants will be notified of their status via email within two weeks after completing their interviews.   There are three possible decisions: acceptance, waitlist, and denial. Internal transfer applicants who are denied admission to the College of Pharmacy may reapply a second time.

Applicants who have been accepted to the College of Pharmacy must submit a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 https://www.officialpayments.com/index.jsp. The deposit is due two weeks after the acceptance letter has been mailed to the student.  If the applicant is not accepted into COP after the second admissions interview, he/she must obtain a science-related degree before re-applying.

Enrollment in Academic Enrichment Program (AEP)

Students with a GPA of less than 3.0 (Math-Science GPA and/or Prerequisite GPA) will be automatically enrolled in the college's (Academic Enrichment Program (AEP).

Am I Eligible to Apply?

You are eligible to apply to the Pharm.D. Program after completing the XUCOP Pre Pharmacy Requirements. All eligible applicants must fulfill the following:

  • A preferred 2.75 Pre-Pharmacy GPA* (**GPA calculated based on XUCOP Pre-Pharmacy Course Requirements)*
  • A preferred 2.75 Math Science GPA
  • XUCOP PRE-PHARMACY REQUIREMENT
