Creating an Engaging Community
Our residential education program creates an engaging environment where students live, learn and thrive. We develop a sense of belonging, provide opportunities for personal growth, and foster a safe and supportive environment. Our team aims to make the University of Xavier feel like home. The mission of the Office of Housing & Residence Life to support the academic mission of the institution by providing a safe, comfortable physical environment in which one is able to pursue academic endeavors and achieve personal growth within the boundaries of community standards and respect for others.
Our primary purpose is to assist in and contribute to the development of the “whole” person (intellectual, spiritual, emotional, ethical and physical components) by utilizing the resources and services of the university and community. Therefore being committed to providing a quality living and learning environment, we will contribute to the overall positive development and education of each student within the residence halls.
Steps for On-Campus Living
- You must submit a housing deposit of $300. $100 is a nonrefundable application fee.
- Log into the housing portal and submit your housing application.
- If the hyperlink doesn't work please apply by visiting www.xula.edu, select Quick Links, choose Online Resources, and then select Housing Application.
- Regularly monitor your email for next steps.
3 Main Reasons to Live on Campus:
Community
Living on campus is the best option for students who want to be in the thick of things. By living on campus, you’ll have access to a variety of activities and events that will keep you connected with the Xavier community. You’ll be near your friends and neighbors, which will help make it easier to get involved in extracurricular activities, clubs, or simply having fun.
Safety
Living in our residence halls is the safest way to live on campus. Our police department has experienced officers, top-notch security systems (X-card, cameras, and individual keys), and a desk staff that works most of the day and night. You can feel safe and secure living in our residence halls.
Convenience
Living on campus is the best way to ensure that you're getting the most out of your education. You'll be so close to your classes that walking is easy and convenient—you won't have to worry about fighting for a parking spot or driving long distances. You'll also be near many other important aspects of a student's life: the cafeteria, library, student union and campus recreation center.
Spring 2027 Housing Notices:
Dear Students,
Housing Applications for Spring 2027 will open on October 1, 2026 at 10:00am CST. Applications will close November 15, 2026 at 4:00pm CST.
All of those who apply before November 15th will have assignments in their housing portal by December 1st.
- Waiting list numbers will continue to be generated for anyone who wasn't assigned.
- If a housing assignment is not assigned, housing is not guaranteed.
Fall 2027 New Student Housing Notices:
Dear New Students,
Housing Applications for Fall 2027 will open on January 15, 2026 at 10:00am CST. Applications will close May 1, 2026 at 4:00 pm CST.
Housing Selection Timeline (Start time 10:00am- End time 4:00pm CST):
1. Complete Housing Application (January 15th- May 1st)
2. Complete Roommate Selection (March 1- May 9)
3. Complete Room Selection (May 10- May 11)
New Student Move In Date: TBD.
Check-in Times:
Floors 5-6: 8:00am
Floors 3-4: 10:00am
Floors 1-2: 12:00pm
All late check ins: 2:00pm-4:00pm
Please note, priority will be given to students who check in for their floor first.
Continuing Student Housing Notices:
Dear Returning Students,
Housing Applications for Fall 2027 will reopen on February 2, 2026 at 10:00am CST. Applications will close March 1, 2026 at 4:00 pm CST.
Housing Selection Timeline:
1. Complete Housing Application
2. Complete Roommate Selection
3. Complete Room Selection
Please check your waitlist number under the 'Room and Roommate' tab.
Waitlist numbers will be listed on the portal by May 1, 2026 at 5:00pm. To find your waitlist number:
- Select 'roommate and room selection'
- Select 'waitlist' and view your status
We encourage students to check their housing portal regularly if they do not have a housing assignment.

Visitation Policy:
- Visitation Hours are from 12:00pm-12:00am daily.
- In order to check a guest in and out of a building, you and your guest will need a valid driver's license or state ID
- You cannot check more than 2 people into the building at a time.
- You must remain with your guest at ALL times.
- In order to check your guest out, ALL parties must be present.
Failure to abide by the visitation rules can result in a lost of vistation privileges for the remainder of the semester.
Mail & Package Delivery Guidelines for Move-In
To help us maintain an organized and efficient package system during move-in, please carefully follow the guidelines below:
📦 Package Arrival Window
Packages may not arrive more than 48 hours prior to your scheduled move-in date. Any packages that arrive earlier than this window will not be stored and may be returned to the sender.
🧭 Proper Mailing Address Format
To ensure your package is delivered correctly, please use the following format:

Incorrect or incomplete addresses may result in delays or misrouted deliveries.
Residential Assistant Application Process:
- Applications will open March 15th
- Applications must be completed by March 30th
- 2 letters of recommendation are required, one must be academic
- XU-Leads is required
- New RAs are not allowed to have additional jobs
