Xavier’s College of Pharmacy to Promote Health and Encourage Healthy Decisions in Local Community Engagement Event

Xavier University of Louisiana’s College of Pharmacy (COP) is one of the 24 organizations participating in Oschner Health’s Health and Wellness Day in New Orleans East, an annual event offering free health screenings and education to the New Orleans East community. Xavier’s Health and Wellness Center and the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education (CMHDRE), two centers housed in Xavier’s COP, will participate in the event.

In addition to providing health screenings and education, participating organizations will assess community health needs. With a focus on eliminating health disparities, especially for underrepresented communities, the COP programs that will attend the event will be able to adequately serve the community and learn more about the needs of that community to advocate for better health outcomes and practices. Participation also gives COP students a chance to engage with the community and learn more about serving patients as pharmacists.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Joe W. Brown Rec Center. For more information, click here.
