A Message from the President on Current Events

Dear Xavier community members,

This election season has been both divisive and revelatory. Yesterday’s election results have left us with lingering uncertainty. This is an unsettling time.

The Xavier community has been deeply engaged in conversations and actions around this election and for the future of the nation. This stems from our mission of justice and humanity. It is essential that you as students and citizens engage in the democratic process.

Democracy does not end with any one election result. It renews itself with each. No matter the result of this election, we will remain committed, invested, and active in defense of democratic principles and the rights our ancestors fought and bleed for.

Our forebears were committed and sacrificed to move this country from a spirit of divisiveness to one of common union. You continue and renew that commitment.

We are all called to participate in the creation of that just and humane society.

We watch and wait as the votes are counted. We persevere through uncertainty.

I am praying for each of you and stand ready and at your side during these trying times.
