College Consensus Ranks Xavier No. 3 Among HBCUs

New Orleans, LA- Xavier University has been ranked among the top HBCU’s by College Consensus, a website combining the results of all of the most reputable college ranking publishers and thousands of real student reviews from around the web. In the 2019 report, “Best Historically Black Colleges & Universities”, Xavier was ranked No. 3, behind Howard University and Spelman College respectively According to College Consensus, the list, as an aggregate ranking, was data pulled together from numerous college ranking sites, including U.S. News & World Report, WalletHub, and the Wall Street Journal. Those results are combined with the most reputable student reviews, from sites including Niche, My Plan, and Unigo, creating a Publisher Rating and a Student Review Rating. The combination of these two creates the Consensus Rating, a comprehensive meta-ranking.

The site specifically cited Xavier for its promotion of undergraduate research, its focus on providing minority students an education “with students working closely alongside faculty mentors to learn and practice research with real-world relevance,” its status as the nation’s only historically Black and Catholic HBCU, and its strong preparation of pharmacy and premedical students.
