Randy George McKee is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Magna Cum Laude from Xavier University. He is also a graduate of Tulane University Law School.
At Xavier University, he has taught constitutional law classes since 2018. He proudly serves as the coach for the Xavier University Mock Trial Team. His law firm provides counsel to students and provides internships. Further, he previously served as an adjunct professor at Southern University Law School and Howard University.
McKee has received the Xavier University Clarence Jupiter Service and Philanthropy Award and the St. Augustine High School Trailblazer Award. He is a lifelong Catholic, who has served as the President of a Pastoral Council. He is a fellow of the Norman C. Francis Leadership Institute. He has previously served as a board member of the Second Harvest Food Bank Board of Directors. McKee is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
McKee has 30 years of legal experience and maintains practice areas in Civil Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Business Law, Municipal Finance, Real Estate and Estate Planning. He is a trial attorney and litigator who enjoys meeting a client’s objective through trial. McKee has extensive courtroom experience in personal injury matters, insurance disputes, commercial matters, construction disputes and workers’ compensation matters. He utilizes these skills to provide maximum value to clients in resolving matters. McKee has successfully obtained verdicts in federal and state courts for individual and institutional clients.
Presently, he is General Counsel to the St. Helena Parish School Board. He also serves as counsel to Xavier University and St. Augustine High School on a number of litigation, insurance coverage, labor and compliance issues. McKee represents various businesses, developers and companies in litigation, development and real estate matters. In this capacity, he also advises businesses on organizational issues, partnership agreements and various commercial agreements. He provides counsel to the New Orleans African-American Museum of Art, Culture and History.
In his municipal finance practice, McKee advises issuers, underwriters and institutions regarding the issuance of municipal bonds. His firm has served as bond counsel to the City of Grambling and co-bond counsel to the Board of Liquidation for the City of New Orleans. He has also served as co-underwriters counsel, co-bond counsel and issuer’s counsel in bond deals with the City of New Orleans, Regional Transit Authority, New Orleans Aviation Board, Louisiana Community Development Authority, Orleans Parish School Board, St. Helena Parish School Board, City of Grambling and the City of Atlanta Airport. He conducts due diligence of issuers in bond deals and assists in the drafting of Official Statements in bond deals. He is also listed in the Bond Buyer’s Municipal Marketplace Directory (“The Red Book”).
Further, McKee also represents real estate developers and investors in real estate transactions, development, leases and litigation involving tax credits and other financing instruments. He has also served as developer’s counsel in affordable housing bond matters. He has been counsel to banks, businesses and other parties in commercial matters, expropriation proceedings and commercial leases.
McKee has also represented the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) in select litigation matters. In this role, he advised the RTA on a variety of matters, including litigation matters, regulatory matters and compliance issues involving the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). He has successfully tried cases for the agency in state court involving personal injury claims and before arbitration panels involving construction disputes. Further, he has previously managed outside law firms responsible for litigation matters for the RTA.
McKee previously served as a United States Bankruptcy Chapter 7 Trustee for several years. In that capacity, he dealt with fundamental issues such as liquidating assets and managing the reorganization of bankruptcy estates.
