I am Ouloide Yannick Goue, an Assistant Professor in the department of Physics and Computer Sciences. Before coming to Xavier University of Louisiana, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Physics and Engineering Department at Lincoln university of Pennsylvania.
I teach courses ranging from Physics to engineering. A non-exhaustive list includes Introduction to Physics, Engineering Statics and Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Computational Methods. To enhance my students’ learning experience, I strive to be adaptive to their learning style, and use a combination of student-centered, inquiry-based, cooperative learning and hands-on approaches.
My research interest is twofold. One area focuses on developing engineered processes that are adapted to human needs; this I call sustainable human designed engineering. The second area revolves around the field of fractography. In this area, I seek to first understand factors that cause materials to fail, and then develop processes to predict and mitigate those failures. Currently, I am setting up my research lab and group. This means I am looking for a couple of engaged and motivated students to work with me.
Beside my interest in Physics and engineering, I am passionate about writing, particularly poetry and short essays. I also engage in sport activities, such as running, hiking, and playing soccer.
I hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stony Brook University, and bachelor’s in physics and Mathematics from Lincoln university of Pennsylvania.
My office is located in the Norman C. Francis Building NCF room 240. I can be reached at 504-520-5319 or by email at ogoue@xula.edu.
