Diego F. Niño, MD, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and founding faculty at Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine (XOCOM), Xavier University of Louisiana, where he serves as Director of Artificial Intelligence Integration and Innovation and Director of Assessment and Quality Review. He also chairs the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) Professional Development Committee and serves as Director of theIAMSE AI in Health Professions Education Course.
Dr. Niño serves as Program Developer and Lead Faculty Facilitator for theIAMSE Professional Development Workshops on AI in Health Professions Education. He also developed and leads the Professional Certificate in AI Integration in Health Professions Education at Tecnológico de Monterrey, a six-month blended program training faculty across multiple campuses in Mexico.
With over a decade of experience in academic medicine and health professions education, Dr. Niño specializes in the application of artificial intelligence in medical education, the integration of educational technology, and professional development. His scholarship focuses on developing and implementing innovative active learning strategies and creating interactive educational tools that leverage emerging technologies and artificial intelligence to optimize learning outcomes and educational effectiveness. An accomplished educator and mentor, he has guided multiple medical students and junior faculty members across institutions and has presented his work at national and international conferences on AI in medical education and professional development.
