Research Interests
My background is in Astrophysics generally, but specifically supernovae. I have studied the absolute magnitude distributions and light curves for different types of supernovae. More recently, I have been working on Physics and Astronomy Education Research. I have completed a study comparing exam problem graded by multiple-choice questions to those grading as free-response answers. I have also looked into the flipped classroom model of teaching compared to a traditional lecture class. I recently completed an open-access textbook for General Astronomy. This course is a survey course directed at non-science majors. I am currently working on an open-access textbook for General Physics for Life Science majors (mostly premed majors).
