The XULA Department of Department of Art and Performance Studies
The Department of Art and Performance Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana fosters a dynamic learning environment where students can realize their creative potential. Students develop skills in both traditional and contemporary artistic practices through a blend of studio work, seminars, and theory. Majors and minors gain valuable experience in visual art, culture, and communication.
The program encourages professional development by requiring art majors to build a portfolio and learn to market themselves for our global society. Many students take advantage of internship opportunities to gain experience as working artists and designers. Their work is frequently exhibited in local galleries and museums. Upperclassmen have the chance to conduct undergraduate research through the Center for Undergraduate Research, allowing them to present at conferences and conduct research travels.
