Xavier Alum receives High Honor after Graduating from Howard's General Surgery Residency Program

New Orleans, La. - Xavier University of Louisiana Alum Dr. George N. Washington has graduated from the General Surgery Residency Program at Howard University. In addition to graduating from Howard's competitive residency program, Dr. Washington also received the Howard University Hospital 2019 Resident Patient Care Staff Award, which is the highest patient care award across all of the residency programs at Howard.

American politician and U.S. Senator for Vermont Bernie Sanders, pictured third from the left in the photo above, was the guest speaker at the ceremony. Dr. Washington is second from the left and has been accepted into UT-Houston Medical School to begin his plastic surgery fellowship.
