As we approach the end of the semester, we want to thank you for doing your part in keeping our community safe. You wore your masks, you maintained social distance and you practiced appropriate hand hygiene; and because of your diligence, we are a strong, more resilient campus. We know that it has been difficult, but there is not one challenge that collectively you have not been able to overcome. Today, we are going to ask you to get ready to excel in our “Safe Send Home” initiative.
Student Health Services will provide COVID-19 tests, free of charge to all residential students and commuter students, traveling back to their families for the winter break. These mandatory exit tests will begin on Monday, November 16, through, Sunday November 22. Student Health Services will be assigning testing appointments based on your residence hall assignments, however, if you are a commuter traveling home you can work directly with Student Health Services by calling 504-520-7396, to get tested at a time that fits within your busy lives.
We are almost there and we need you to step up to the plate and show up for these tests. Your full participation not only protects your grandparents or family members who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19. If you have any questions or want to schedule an appointment outside of your pre-set time, don’t hesitate to reach out. Have a great rest of the semester and good luck with your finals. Take good care and stay safe.
Xavierites have a history of going above and beyond, including XULA Parents! Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic meant that universities and colleges had to cancel traditional commencement celebrations for the class of 2020, including Xavier University of Louisiana. Understandably, many graduating students were devastated by this news, including public health major Gabrielle Pierce.Student Life
