Xavier University of Louisiana Names Ingenue' Schexnider-Fields as University Controller

Ingenue' Schexnider-Fields started her career at Xavier University in 2003 with experience as an accountant an auditor. She has also worked for three prominent local CPA firms. Her auditing experience is centered around audits of Colleges and Universities, Governmental Agencies and non-profit organizations.


“We are elated to have Ingenue' Schexnider-Fields serve as University Controller at Xavier. As someone who has been a part of the Xavier community for more than a decade, she has demonstrated her skills to be a great leader who is passionate about Xavier,” said Vice President of Fiscal Services and CFO at Xavier University, Edward Phillips. “I know that she will contribute significantly to Xavier’s financial goals.” 


Schexnider-Fields has grown quickly during her time at Xavier, excelling in several key positions including Grant Accountant II, Senior Accountant and Director of Financial Reporting/External Audits.


With more than 25 years of accounting experience, Ingenue' Schexnider-Fields works closely with the CFO to develop the University budget as well as to prepare and disseminate financial information to University Senior Management. In her new role as University Controller, she will now manage accounting and budgetary activity and will be also responsible for ensuring that financial records are accurately recorded and reported.


As a New Orleans-native who graduated from Cabrini High School who then went on to pursue a B.S. in Accounting at Southern University in New Orleans, Schexnider-Fields has always identified with Xavier University's mission and Saint Katharine Drexel’s vision for a more just and humane society. Schexnider-Fields has continued to thrive in the Xavier community throughout the years and this year, she is eager to take on her new role.


“One of my main goals this year is fiscal transparency, which is critical for effective fiscal management,” saidSchexnider-Fields. “I will continue to host Argos and Banner fiscal report training sessions for both faculty and staff. My goal is to ensure that the University's financial information is accurate and available to management. There is a true sense of family and community all over campus and I am excited to continue work at this institution in a new role, with the same purpose of advancing Xavier University's mission in the promotion of a more just and humane society through education.”


Schexnider-Fields will begin her role as University Controller in this summer.
