The Xavier Ed. D. in Educational Leadership program is unique because it focuses on leadership skills that include social justice making sure all systems involved in the organization are included. The program is framed in a conceptual framework that identifies six constructs: spirituality, diversity, professionalism, inquiry, competence, and technology that are weaved within the fabric of the program and are passed on from the experienced professional to those who will lead effective schools in the future. Through a process of reflection, the core concepts are continuously related to one another and to the vision and mission of Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament.

The Xavier Ed. D. in Educational Leadership program is unique since its focus will be on the urban community and be aligned with the mission of Xavier, to promote a more just and humane society. It will blend face-to-face classroom instruction with online courses. It is designed to be action oriented; candidates will be able to put coursework theory into immediate practice. This doctoral program is designed for practitioners. These individuals are advancing in their fields of education and yet understand the need for the terminal degree. This program follows programs in law, nursing, pharmacy, and medicine such that the candidates study, learn and practice their profession.
