The Writing Center at Xavier University is an academic support service offering tutorial assistance and instruction in the writing process to all members of the Xavier community. The Writing Center staff, comprised of a director, full-time professional instructors, and specially trained peer tutors, provides individualized assistance to students who have been referred to the Center by their instructors, to students, faculty, and staff who come in on their own, and to students enrolled in ENGL 0990 or ENGL 1000, who are required to attend weekly sessions.

While the Writing Center staff remains committed to individualized instruction, we are also committed to discovering new ways to diversify our methods. On request, the Center strives to offer various levels of group or class instruction with specific writing strategies.

Our vision is of a Writing Center that is at the heart of academic activity at Xavier University, where students representing the full range of abilities are engaged—whether one-on-one with a tutor or in small group sessions, whether at computer screens or with pen and paper—learning to write and learning through writing.
