3) CS: Exploring Computer Science at XU

Objective:  The Department of Computer Science extends an invitation to you to join us for two-weeks in our CS: Exploring Computer Science at XU summer program. This summer’s theme “Computation brings mobility to oil and natural gas exploration” will explore the many ways technology has left the office desktop and is now in-hand as mobile applications and is now remote-controlled as mobile robots - all with a continuous need for budding scientists to learn new and exciting tasks. We'll design and create a location finder app for an Android device that will use triangulation of geolocation data to find oil; we’ll build and program Lego Mindstorm robots to search for oil; we'll create music and pictures to figure out how sound and images are used in the complex search for oil and natural gas; and we'll take a field trip to a BP oil exploration center. All end-of program challenges will include prizes.
