Xavier University offers to students various services,
resources and co-curricular student life programs to enhance
student success and experiences. These services and programs
fall under the supervision of the Division of Student Services.
Established to champion the causes of students and offer them
opportunities to grow as individuals, the expectation is that students
will develop broad competencies in: personal growth, interpersonal
development, leadership and service, environmental and cultural
awareness, and understanding and commitment to social justice for
all humankind.

The Vice President for Student Services
The Vice President for Student Services (VPSS) provides administrative leadership,
support, and direction for all matters related to Student Services and student
life and participates as a member of the President's Cabinet. He advises the
executive branch of the Student Government Association and the Pan-Hellenic
Council. The Associate Vice President for Student Services functions as the
Dean of Students, operations officer, primary advisor for Student Congress,
and judicial administrator.

Campus Ministry fosters the
development of a campus religious family through the coordination of religious

Career Services
Career Services helps
all students become well informed and well prepared to make rewarding career
choices. Students may receive assistance through any of the following services:
Career counseling, job search techniques, resume assistance, mock interviews,
on-campus interviews, interview assessment, summer internships, and part-time
job listings.
University Police
Maintains the campus as a safe and secure environment. The Office of University Police
Office is open 24 hours per day and serves as the information center to visitors
entering the campus. Officers patrol the campus boundaries on a regular schedule
by vehicle and foot patrol. They assist students, faculty, and staff taking
precautions for their own safety, and several crime prevention and safety
awareness programs offer throughout the year.
Counseling Services and Wellness Program
Offers professional individual and group counseling to all students through
the Counseling and Wellness
Center. Students are assisted by the counselors in exploring
feelings, attitudes, motivation, academic abilities, habits, time management,
test taking and stress coping skills or any other areas designated by the
students. Career and personality testing are also available services.
The Counseling Center staff also coordinates the Freshman Orientation Class,
UNIV 1010-1020, serves as advisors for Deciding Majors, and sponsors the Wellness
Program which encourages students to be the best that they can be in every
area of their lives--physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually,
intellectually, academically, and occupationally. Wellness Awareness Week,
Walking Club, weight reduction group, wellness video series, and Wellness
Associates, a student group, are some activities to inform and assist students,
faculty and staff in living a wellness lifestyle.
Residential Life
Residence Life administers and supervises residence
hall operations which include: physical facilities, staffing and the placement
of students in the residence halls. It is also responsible for maintaining,
improving, and enriching the quality of student life on campus through coordination
of services and educational, social, cultural and recreational programs for
resident students.
International Student Services
Provides assistance to enrolled students who are citizens of other countries.
This includes academic and personal counseling as well as information on visitor
status. An advisor works with international students to coordinate and plan
activities where students can profit from cultural exchange and participate
in various programs throughout the year.
Recreational Sports
Recreational sports offers
an opportunity for all students, regardless of athletic abilities, to participate
in competitive, organized, and free-play sporting activities. The sports offered
are: Flag football, Volleyball, Horseshoe, Basketball, Softball, Table tennis,
Billiards, Tennis, Track and Swimming.
New Student Orientation
Assists our "new" students--entering freshmen, transfer students and non-traditional
students--in adjusting to college life and maximizing their potential. These
efforts are facilitated by Peer Deans, student volunteers who mentor
and act as liaisons to new students on campus and assist in planning Orientation
by taking advantage of all the resources available to them to become well-rounded
students.
Student Health Services
Student Health Services maintains
the Health Services Center on campus. Its primary function is the maintenance
and improvement of the health and welfare of all registered students through
the following: limited medical care, initial diagnostic services for illness
and injuries, limited dental-services, infirmary care, consultation on general
health and nutrition and off campus referral services. Visual screening is
provided upon request at student's cost. Health education sessions are scheduled
throughout the semester.
Student Activities and Organizations
Provides opportunities to link academic, professional and personal development
goals to campus/community involvement. All programs are designed to provide
personal growth and development for students outside the classroom. This office
also coordinates the development of and supervises the procedures and activities
of University-recognized student clubs and organizations.
Student Programs
Encourages student participation in volunteer and community service activities
as a central concern of a Xavier Education. Serving as both a resource center
and volunteer placement office, the center coordinates the activities of individuals
and student groups wishing to volunteer, provides increased opportunities
for leadership development, social awareness, personal growth and career exploration.
This office also supervises the student community service organization, Mobilization
at Xavier (M.A.X.).
Student Center
Offers facilities to support student and University programs and is headquarters
for main meeting rooms, Gold/Rush Drexel, student lounge, game room and houses
offices for Student Services Administration, Orientation, Student Activities,
Volunteer Services and Student Government.
