MENINGITIS VACCINE ALERT
POLICY CHANGE  

Dear Student:

The meningococcal meningitis vaccine will be a requirement for all students on campus effective with the Fall 2006 semester.

The New Orleans community has experienced several lethal infections related to meningococcal meningitis in students enrolled in our area university student population. We have been fortunate not to have this deadly disease; the University will institute a new immunization policy that will become effective with the Fall 2006 semester.

This notice will provide each student with ample opportunity to obtain the required immunization from your local family physician in your home environments. Your Insurance coverage in many instances will provide payment. Xavier will not provide this immunization on campus; however, you may obtain a listing of medical facilities in the New Orleans area that provides this service at your expense.
