Letter From the President
Xavierites,
I am extremely grateful to have wonderful colleagues like you, who encouraged and supported me during my campaign. I have the opportunity and challenge to serve Xavier in a new way, and I am bubbling with excitement and anxiety.
The 2011-2012 Student Government Association Executive Board is committed to building on the legacy of excellence past administrations have established. We promise to continue to the Xavier traditions we all love and to make improvements where necessary and possible. The seven of us have been working diligently since May to assure we can serve as the voice of the student body to administrators; that all students have interesting, fun and meaningful campus activities and initiatives to participate in; and that we all remain informed and engaged.
Please take time to check out each officer’s individual goals for the year. Our overall goals for the semester are listed below, and my strategic plan for the year is available in the SGA office.
Can’t wait for a great year! Best of luck to each of you.
Kaitie Gaddis
President, 2011-2012
Student Government Association
The 2011-2012 Student Government Association will work to:
- Increase student participate in student government and other campus programming;
- Create an environment of professionalism, comfort and support; and
- Boost school spirit and school pride.
What is SGA?
The Student Government Association (SGA) is the official representative of students in University policy-making and administration. It is the party responsible for providing open forums for student issues and concerns; improving student life and providing leadership experience.
Express your concerns and/or report grievances to the Student Government Association or Get Involved By attending monthly student group meetings.
SGA is the liaison between the students, faculty and University administration, providing appointments to a variety of internal and University committees, task forces and boards that establish or influence a wide range of policies, procedures and the general direction of academic and nonacademic programs and services offered at Xavier.
All full-time and part-time undergraduate and professional school students are members of the Student Government Association.
Mission
The mission of the Student Government Association is to provide experience in the democratic process; to encourage students to participate in all facets of the institution; to promote professionalism, efficiency and ingenuity; and to promote and assist in the planning and implementation of student programs and activities.
SGA is located in the University Center, suite 210 (corridor behind Bookstore). Contact us at sga@xula.edu, (504) 520-7367
