  • What is BLAST?
    BLAST (Building Lifelong Academic Skills Training) is an intervention program for continuing students on strict probation designed to promote student academic success by providing an academic plan with proven strategies to help increase academic performance.

  • When is BLAST?
    First Time Strict Probation
    (THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO WERE NOT ON STRICT PROBATION FALL 2012)

    • January 8th and January 9th at 3:00pm- 4:40pm -YOU MUST ATTEND ONE OF THESE SESSIONS
    • To register, please send your name, id number, and your preferred date to saso@xula.edu.
    • The deadline to register is January 2nd, 2013. You will receive confirmation on your date on January 3rd.
    • You must complete the Student Success Evaluation (SSE) prior to arriving to BLAST. You will be sent the SSE when you receive your confirmation email.
    • NOTE: You will not receive your alternate pin to register if you do not attend one of the BLAST workshops and complete your Academic Success Plan.

  • Continuing BLAST
    (THIS MEETING IS FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO WERE ON STRICT PROBATION FALL 2012)
    • January 21, 2013 at 12:15-1:05pm
    • You must complete the Student Success Evaluation (SSE) prior to arriving to the BLAST meeting.

  • Why do students need to attend BLAST?
    Students need attend BLAST for several reasons:
    • Staff in the Student Academic Success Office (SASO) serves as advisors to students who attend BLAST and are dedicated to the student’s success.
    • Students are motivated and empowered to succeed academically, personally, and professionally through one-on-one meetings with SASO advisors.
    • Students on strict probation are required to attend BLAST in order to receive their alternate pin number to register for classes. 
    • Additionally, students who received a financial aid appeal are required to attend BLAST and comply with their academic plan in order to receive financial aid in the subsequent semester
