Xavier Review
Submission Guidelines


Xavier Review, which has been publishing since 1980, accepts poetry, fiction, translations, personal essays and critical essays.

 

Our content includes a focus on African American, Caribbean and Southern literature, as well as works that touch on issues of religion and spirituality. We do, however, consider quality works on all themes.

 

Critical essays should follow the MLA Handbook for Writers format, citing sources parenthetically within the text.

 

Please note that we rarely publish any manuscripts over 20 pages. Please send complete manuscripts, accompanied by SASE, to:

We do not normally accept electronic submissions. Overseas authors ONLY can submit by email attachment. We do, however, ask for electronic files of all accepted manuscripts.

 

We also do not accept simultaneous submissions.

 

Payment is 2 copies on publication. Contributor's discount is 40% off cover price, or $3 per copy.

 

Subscriptions are $10 per year for individuals and $15 per year for institutions.

 

Sample copies can be obtained for $5.
