Dr. Leonard Jack, Associate Dean for Scholarship in the College of Pharmacy, Endowed Chair for Minority Health Disparities, and Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education Director. Dr. Jack is Editor-in-Chief of Health Promotion Practice, a peer reviewed journal that focuses on critical and strategic information for professionals engaged in the practice of developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion and disease prevention programs. His most recent book is entitled “Diabetes in Black America: Public Health and Clinical Solutions to a National Health Crisis.” Dr. Jack has appeared on CNN as an expert on health issues among Black men. His research interests include behavioral aspects of managing diabetes, health system approaches for disease management, community-based participatory research, and men’s health.
Dr. Kristi Isaac Rapp, Pharmacy, Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Rapp is the Co-Director of the HEAL Phase II project, supported by Merck Childhood Asthma Network, Inc. This project aims to improve pediatric asthma management in the New Orleans area. It is anticipated that the implementation of a multifaceted intervention in Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans’ Clinics, including tailored asthma counseling, will have positive influences on clinical outcomes of patients and quality improvement for the health care system.

Drs. Kennedy, Echeverri, and Brookover were recently awarded the Rufus A. Lyman Award for best paper published in the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education. Their paper examines how the Clinical Cultural Competency Questionnaire assesses the perceived level of the cultural competence of students in the College of Pharmacy to guide curriculum development within the 4-year academic program.
