Kamrun Mustafa, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at Xavier University of Louisiana. She holds a Ph.D. in Health Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. In addition, she holds a M.P.A. from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville and a M.A. from Dhaka University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She was the two-time recipient of the Dr. James Walker Presidential Scholarship and Fellowship and the Outstanding Dissertation Research Award from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She was also awarded the Eta Sigma Gamma Scholarship Key Award in 2010. Before joining Xavier University she taught public health courses at the Southern University, Carbondale and drug education in a community college setting. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and a Certified Alcohol and other Drug abuse Counselor (CADC) and a Registered Substance Professional (RSAP). Her research interest and activities incorporate her skills and education in health education, women’s health, health disparities, global health, health communication and substance abuse. She is also interested in inter-disciplinary research initiatives involving culture, communication and health, ethnicity and gender studies. |
