Xavier is #1!!
Xavier's Premedical Program is #1 in the nation in placing African-Americans into medical school. And, we also do very well at placing students into related health professions such as osteopathic medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, optometry, podiatry, chiropractic, and public health/health care administration. In the fall of 2009, there are 575 Xavier graduates enrolled in such fields. This includes...
- 315 students enrolled in medical school,
- 15 students enrolled in osteopathic medical school,
- 53 students enrolled in dental school,
- 3 students enrolled in veterinary medicine school,
- 9 students enrolled in optometry school,
- 5 students enrolled in podiatry school,
- 10 students enrolled in chiropractic school,
- 55 students enrolled in public health or health administration school, and
- 122 students enrolled in biology or chemistry graduate school.
More than 95% of these students are African-American.
And, in spite of Hurricane Katrina, Xavier remained #1 in the nation in placing African-Americans into medical school in both 2006 and 2007. Further, acceptances for entry in 2010 are also progressing well as indicated by this list of acceptances in 2010. Here are list of acceptances in 2009, in 2008, in 2007, and in 2006.
