Xavier University of Louisiana Premedical Office

The Premedical Office at Xavier University of Louisiana provides systematic and comprehensive application advice/support (starting freshman year and continuing consistently throughout enrollment) to Xavier premedical students who are interested in applying to professional degree programs in medicine, osteopathic medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, optometry, podiatry, and related health fields. To gain perspective on an array of health careers, students are encouraged to visit http://explorehealthcareers.org/en/home.

For over ten years, Xavier has been a leader nationally in placing African-American students into medical school. Acceptances into medical, dental, and other health professions schools for 2016 are progressing well as indicated by this list. Click on the following links to view acceptances in 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, and 2006. For perspective on Xavier's success in preparing students for entry into medical school, please read the article by The New York Times Magazine entitled "A Prescription for More Black Doctors."

The Premedical Office is located in room 108 of the Norman C. Francis Academic Science Complex (building #36 on Campus Map). Students who require assistance outside the scope of scheduled group meetings, individual meetings, and detailed advising email communication during the academic year are strongly encouraged to stop by the Premedical Office and/or send email inquiries to xupremed@yahoo.com.

Xavier students (and alumni) who plan on applying to medical, dental, or another type of health professions school and who wish to receive structured and detailed advising from the Premedical Office should have working email addresses on file in the Premedical Office. Currently enrolled students should sign-in by visiting the Premedical Office; Xavier alumni may sign-up to receive advising emails from the Premedical Office by sending a request to xupremed@yahoo.com. In addition to attending regularly scheduled group and individual premed meetings, it is imperative that advisees carefully read all Premedical Office emails and retain them as needed for future reference. FYI, email messages are sent out almost DAILY during the academic year and peak professional school application periods during the summer.
