About PREM Scholarship
It is an exciting time to join the Chemistry Department at Xavier. In September 2009, the department was awarded $3,000,000 for five years through a program called PREM to prepare the next generation of underrepresented minority that are interested in majoring in chemistry (A.C.S. certified), physics (B.S.), and engineering. The goal of the program is to prepare students like you to graduate with a bachelor degree from Xavier and to prepare you for graduate school to earn a Ph.D. in any STEM discipline. To achieve these goals, PREM will provide you with all the necessary tools that you need. All PREM students will receive a minimum of $ 5,000 scholarship per year plus $ 4,000 in stipend for doing research during the summer for (10 weeks) which starts after their freshman year. In addition, we’ll provide you with an additional stipend up to $1,000 which can be used for supplies such as books, etc. All PREM stipends and scholarships will be in addition to what the University has already given you.
