ROUND THE WORLD
Hind Ohmani (center), a Fulbright teaching assistant in Xavier’s Arabic program, dressed in native Moroccan garb, chats with Winston Boyd, a sophomore English major from New Orleans (McDonogh 35) and Carla Samuel, senior theology major from Baton Rouge LA (Baton Rouge High), following a special presentation on life and culture in the northwest African nation. The program included a Moroccan buffet, a powerpoint presentation, music, a poster display and objects d'art from Morocco.
GROUNDBREAKING
President Norman Francis makes remarks at the ground-breaking for the Louisiana Cancer Research Center, which will house a consortium uniting the efforts of LSU, Tulane and Xavier to develop breakthroughs in cancer treatment. The 10-story complex, expected to open in 2011, is on Tulane Avenue.

Prospective future Xavierites pack a Xavier Open House hosted by the Philadelphia Alumni Chapter for students from Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey who applied for admission for Fall 2009. The event was moderated by Dr. Kenneth Boutte, Dean of Freshman Studies, and held at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in the Bensalem, PA.
