MARCH MADNESS

With their opening round win over No. 3 seed Georgetown College, the '06-'07 men's team - led by Shaun Dumas of New Orleans - became the first Gold Rush since 1973 to advance to the second round of the NAIA National Basketball Tournament in Kansas City, Mo. Coach Dannton's team lost in the next round to finish the year at 22-10.

ROAD SHOW

Sister Grace Mary Flickinger, S.B.S., and members of the women’s basketball squad – (L to R) Coach Bo Browder, Sheronda Nash, Jarryn Cleaves and Brittany Whitmore – discuss their respective imminent travel plans. Flickinger headed to Kansas City to receive the NAIA’s Wally Schwartz Award, while the Nuggets made the journey to Jackson, Tenn., for the NAIA National Tournament.

OPEN HOUSE

More than 125 visitors crowded into the University Center lobby for the Office of Admissions’ spring Open House. With interest among prospective students approaching pre-Katrina levels, the University has extended its deadline for new freshman to apply for the Fall 2007 semester.

TEACHING SCIENCE

Dr. Joseph Ross (biology) addresses the subject of enhancing science education for non-majors during one of the sessions of the Faculty Resource Network institute on Undergraduate Science Education hosted by Xavier. Faculty from across the country came to campus for the two-day event, which was funded by the national Science Foundation.
