majors should note that certification requirements are established by the Louisiana Department
of Education and are subject to change. Some revised state standards are anticipated in 1996
and 1997. The new standards will apply to anyone making an application for teacher certification
on or after September 1, 2000. Students should consult with their advisors to assure that they
meet these requirements.
