What are the library’s hours?

The hours during the regular semester are as follows:

Regular Library Hours

Monday-Thursday: 7:30 AM – 12:00 midnight
Friday: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM
Saturday: 12:00 noon – 6:00 PM
Sunday: 12:30 PM – 12:00 midnight

Where is the library located?

The Library Resource Center is building #38.  We are across from the gymnasium, and connected to the Pharmacy Addition Building. Using the city streets as a guide, we are located near Short Street and the Pontchartrain Expressway.

 

Is there a lost and found in the library?

If you lose something in the library, check with the librarians at the reference desk on the 1 st floor of the library.

Are there computers with word processing software and printing facilities located in the library?

The public computers on the various floor of the library do not have word processing software or printers attached. To print or use word processing software, you must go to the Resource and Mentoring Center, located on the 1 st floor of the Library Resource Center.

 

Where can I eat in the library?

There are no facilities for eating in the library. You may bring bottled water into the library. There should be no eating in the library.

Can I access XACWeb from off campus?

Yes. The library’s catalog, XACWeb can be access from the library’s website or the University’s website.

 

How can I access the online resources from off campus?

If you are a Xavier student, staff member, or faculty member you can access the online databases from off campus by using your Xavier e-mail user name (everything left of the @xula.edu) and e-mail password.

Where can I purchase a copy card or obtain change for the photocopiers?

All copy machines accept the Xavier X-card.  When using the X-card, copies are 5 cents per page.  There are copy machines on the 1st floor that accept dollars and coins at 10 cents per page.  There are no change machines located in the library.

 

I have a call number from XACWeb, but where do I find the book?

The books in the library are arranged by Dewey classification. With your call number, you should also note the location. If the book is a regular circulating book it will be in the main stacks on the third floor of the library. Pharmacy books are located on the fourth floor. If in doubt, check the library floor plan and or ask a librarian.

Where are the periodicals located?

The majority of the bound periodicals and periodical in micro format are located on the second floor of the library. There are also Pharmacy periodicals located on the fourth floor. Current editions of a small number of frequently used periodicals are located in the new periodical display on the first floor of the library. Locations and call numbers of periodicals can be found in XACWeb.

 

Can I borrow videotapes, CD’s or other media from the library?

Students cannot check videos out of the library but can view them on the fourth floor in the Instructional Media Center. For additional information, check the Instructional Media Center’s guidelines.
