After entering the library the first desk on your right is the reference desk. Librarians at the desk are there to facilitate access to information and informational resources. The librarians are your first choice if you need any assistance in locating resources and or doing research. On the library’s web page there is also Ask A Reference Librarian, this service allows members of the Xavier community to ask questions of Xavier’s reference librarians, without having to come to the library.
For extensive inquires, it is best to consult a reference librarian face-to-face and for detailed assistance it may be helpful to make an appointment with a reference librarian.
The ready reference collection is located behind the reference desk and a valid identification card must be presented to use resources in this collection. Other services you may receive at the reference desk are; admittance to the group study rooms, information about faculty carrels and LALINC card information for faculty, staff and graduate students.
