Memorial Mass for Dr. Duane Johnson, Kelvin Bush
There will be a Memorial Mass in the University Chapel at 12:00 noon MONDAY (Dec. 17) to remember Dr. Duane Johnson (Faculty – College of Pharmacy) and Kelvin Bush (Staff – Office of Technology Administration)(pharmacy), two Xavier employees who died earlier this month.
John T. Scott Posters on Sale
Unsigned copies of “Drexel’s Dreams” – the poster created by Xavier alumnus and renowned artist John T. Scott ’62 to celebrate the canonization of Saint Katharine Drexel in 2000 – are once again available for sale. Posters can be purchased at the Institutional Advancement Office, Suite 600, XU South, from now until Christmas break. Cost is $20 ($25 if mailed) with proceeds benefitting the new John T. Teach for America Deadline
The application deadline for the Teach for America program is Jan. 4, 2008. The program is open to all academic majors. Visit www.teachforamerica.org for more details.

Coaching Milestones
Congratulations are in order for basketball coaches Bo Browder (Nuggets) and Dannton Jackson (Gold Rush), who recorded their 200th and 100th victories, respectively, at the Xavier helm this past week. Browder, 8-2 this season, is 201-75 in nine years at Xavier and is the school’s winningest women's coach. Jackson, 9-1 on the year, has posted a 100-41 record in his five years at XU.
Campus Ministry Sets Confession Hours
Confessions will be heard on the following dates in the University Chapel Reconciliation Room: THIS SUNDAY (Dec. 9) - 11:15 a.m. to 12 noon, TUESDAY (Dec. 11) – 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. and 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., WEDNESDAY (Dec. 12) – 11:00 to 11:45 a.m., THURSDAY (Dec. 13) – 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. and 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., and or other times by appointment, please contact Fr. Advent Mission
Campus Ministry invites the XU Community to experience “Charge, Challenge, Choice: An Advent Mission” with the Rev. Roy Lee. Special events include: a guest preacher at Mass THIS SUNDAY (Dec. 2), at 12:30 p.m. and a Praise and Worship Night MONDAY (Dec. 3) at 7:00 p.m. (both in University Chapel), as well as a Lunch talk TUESDAY (Dec. 4) from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. in the Administrative Board Room. World Aids Day Activities
The Health Center is offering info and testing on Aids this week in recognition of World Aids Day (Dec. 1) There will be visual displays in the University Center TUESDAY-THURSDAY (Dec. 4-6) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. In addition, HIV testing will be available for Residence Hall residents on the following dates: TUESDAY (Dec. 4) at K.D., WEDNESDAY (Dec. 5) at St. Michael's, and THURSDAY (Dec 6) at St. Martin DePorres (for St. Martin and LLC residents).
Faculty Guitar Recital
The XU community is invited to attend a guitar recital by Music Department faculty member Guy West WEDNESDAY (Dec. 5) at 7:00 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall lobby. He will perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Santiago de Murcia, John Dowland, and others. The event is free and open to the public.
Christmas Toy Drive
The Volunteer Services office is sponsoring their annual Christmas Toy Drive NOW until 5:00 p.m. FRIDAY (Dec. 7). Groups, organizations or individuals interested in contributing should bring their MONETARY gifts to Room 316 of the University Center. All toys purchased by the office staff will go to a local group home and/or community center to meet the needs of youth of all ages and genders.
