What is the
Gold Rush
Student
Giving Campaign Pig?
The Gold Rush Student Giving Campaign is a new annual giving initiative at Xavier that highlights the belief that a little change can make a world of difference.
Since the mid-1500’s, the piggy bank has been used as a tool to teach the value of saving and personal financial management.
Every member of the Class of 2014 was presented with their very own Gold Rush Pig, which will assist them in supporting Xavier, their fellow classmates and themselves.
What does the Gold Rush
Student Giving Pig do for you?
Besides being a great keepsake, the Gold Rush Pig makes it easy and painless to give a little something back (in a feel good, philanthropic way) to your soon-to-be alma mater. It kicks off your experience as a Xavierite, a bond that you will have forever.
Monies collected as a result of this voluntary student initiative will be used to support programs and activities that will be selected by the Class of 2014.
Why it is important to
support your future alma mater?
The tuition and fees that are currently paid by Xavier students do not cover the entire cost of their Xavier education. The tuition that you pay covers approximately 70 per cent of the total cost of your Xavier education. The difference is made up as a result of the generosity of alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and even students. These contributions are used for a variety of initiaitives to include:
- Providing student scholarships
- Providing book scholarships
- Helping to provide room assistance grants
- Defraying the cost of student-on-campus activities
- Ensuring the recruitment and retention of exceptional faculty
- Supporting other programs that enrich the Xavier experience while enhancing the outstanding reputation of Xavier University

How do I care for my Gold Rush Pig?
- Put me in a prominent place and do not forget to feed me with your loose change, dollar bills or even checks! Save time and paper by making your gift on online with your credit card.
- Watch for the “Pig Round-Up” events on campus throughout year where you will have the opportunity to drop off your piggy bank savings while receiving special participation gifts.
