The
Blanche & Norman C. Francis Collection is currently under revision. May 2005 brings the second significant update to these pages including lots of new work from the
Brandywine Workshop in Philadelphia, recently donated in honor of
John T. Scott, and only available online here!
The
Collection is the manifestation of their vision of Xavier as a place where people can work, live and learn in an art-rich environment. The Collection includes artists from all walks of life. Works in the collection are selected based on the artistic value of the piece and the spirit in which it inspires the Xavier community to think and expand its creative reach.
"The high quality and broad range of art in the Blanche and Norman C. Francis Collection at Xavier University is a most appropriate tribute to two great community leaders. For years they have made the arts an important part of the University's curriculum and environment. The Francis Collection now will enrich the lives of students, faculty and staff at Xavier who will study and work among great works of art." E. John Bullard, Director, New Orleans Museum of Art
