The purpose of this office is to process collections, administer campus based loans, retain promissory notes, coordinate billing, perform entrance and exit financial counseling and post graduate services (i.e. consolidations, deferments, forbearances and cancellations) on all campus based student loans (Health Profession Student Loans (HPSL), Loans for Disadvantage Students (LDS) and Perkins Loans).
The Office of Loan Collection does not award, disburse financial aid or post funds to the student account.
Federal Perkins, Health Profession and Loans for Disadvantage Students Loans
These loans are low interest (5 percent) federal loans offered to eligible students with financial need. These loans are campus-based, which means that the school administers the program. Therefore, Xavier University of Louisiana of serves as the lender for the loans. For information regarding eligibility, contact the Office of Financial Aid at 504-520-7517.
Master Promissory Note Financial Counseling
Students who borrow under the Federal Perkins, Health Profession and Loans for Disadvantage Students loans program must sign their master promissory notes with the Office of Loan Collection before the funds are credited to their account. Call 504-520-5232 to make an appointment to complete your master promissory note financial counseling.

Entrance Counseling
Xavier University students borrowing Federal Perkins, Health Profession and Loans for Disadvantage Students loans must complete an entrance interview prior to receiving their first disbursement. This includes first year students, transfers (even if you have completed entrance counseling at another college), returning students borrowing their first loan, and borrowers returning from a leave of absence receiving new loans.
Exit Counseling
Xavier University students who have borrowed Federal Perkins, Health Profession and Loans for Disadvantage Students loans who are graduating, taking a leave of absence, withdrawing or transferring from Xavier or enrolled at Xavier less than half time are required to complete loan exit counseling. Undergraduate students must take at least six (6) credit hours to be considered half-time. It is also mandatory that these students complete two exit interviews (1) Office of Loan Collections and (2) Office of Financial Aid
