Federal Work-Study Program

Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federal financial aid work program funded by the United States Department of Education. The FWS Program provides funds for part-time employment to help needy students to finance the costs of postsecondary education,

Xavier University of Louisiana administers this program in accordance with the laws, federal regulations, and policies issued by or on behalf of the Department of Education, as well as its own institutional policies.

Work-Study is a need-based financial aid award. It is not a grant (you must work to earn funds), and it is not a loan (you don't have to repay it). Students must qualify for need-based financial aid to receive Work-Study. Funds are limited, so not all qualifying students will receive an award.
