STUDENT CENTER RENOVATIONS
One of the most frequently asked questions around the campus is, what
is going to happen to the present Student Center after completion of
the new University Center? All the offices that are in the present
Student Center are scheduled to move to the new University Center by
the May 2003. This will allow us the opportunity to renovate the present
Student Center. We are making plans to add a much needed elevator on
the Pine Street side of the building, near the House of Studies. On
the first floor, we are designing a fitness center, complete with cardiovascular
machines, bicycles, dance rooms, lockers, showers, etc. We are also
planning to create better office space for Counseling and Wellness.
Some offices and exam rooms for Health Services will be on the first
floor. The second floor will have additional offices and exam rooms
for Health Service, as well as computer classrooms (possible wireless
labs), meeting rooms, and observation areas. There are some other life-safety
issues that must be addressed, as well as some ADA issues. We have
contracted with Billes/Manning Architects to perform the initial programming
for this building, which is approximately 25,000 square feet.
