Objective: The Summer Science Academy offers four programs for high school students who have an expressed interest in science/health-related careers. Three of the four programs: MathStar, BioStar, and ChemStar, are part of the BP STEM INSTITUTE, which is an integral component of the Summer Science Academy. The fourth program, SOAR1 (for current juniors), prepares students in analytical reasoning and provides early exposure to science careers. A limited number of on campus housing is available for SOAR participants living outside of the New Orleans Metropolitan Area.
