Minor in Physics

A minor in Physics consists of 18 hours of designated physics courses. There are two possibilities:

  • Students can complete the introductory calculus-based physics sequence (Physics 1121, 2111, and 2121) and 6 hours of any combination of upper level physics courses (upper level courses include PHYS 2630 as well as any 3000 and above courses); or
  • Students can complete the introductory non-calculus based sequence (PHYS 2010/2010L and 2020/2020L) and 10 hours of upper level courses from the following: 3030 (Optics), 3040 (Thermodynamics), 3050 (Modern Physics), 3310L, 3320L, 3310 or 3320 (Seminar), and 4530 (Special Topics) (Please note that Physics 4530 requires the permission of the instructor.) Other upper level courses may be possible with permission of the chair and the instructor and the proper prerequisites.
