What are the Counseling and Wellness Center hours?
The center hours are from 9:00 am-9:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 9:00 am-5:00 pm on Friday during the fall and spring semester.  Counseling center hours are 9:00 am-5:00 pm Monday through Friday during the summer semesters.

Where is the Counseling and Wellness Center located?
We are located temporarily at Xavier South Room 570.  We will be moving to the 2nd floor of building #13, at the corner of Pine and Drexel Drive. 
Do I need an appointment to see a counselor?
Appointments are preferred.  You can call (504) 520-7315 or stop by the center to make an appointment. 
Emergency walk-ins are also provided services.  

Is counseling time-limited?
No, the need for counseling services is evaluated on an ongoing basis between the counselor and student. Services can be offered on a long-term basis and termination of services is a mutual decision.

How much will I have to pay for services?
All services are free!!

Is my counseling information kept confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is vital to providing the most effective services.  Disclosure is not allowed without the written consent of “you” the student.  The only exceptions to written consent are if the student is at risk of harm, plans to harm someone else, or if a child or elderly person is being abused. 

What services are available at the Counseling and Wellness Center?
We offer numerous services including individual counseling, group counseling, study skills sessions, disability services, strong interest inventory, outreach programs, and wellness programs.

Why come to the Counseling and Wellness Center?
The counseling center is beneficial if you are facing any stressors:  difficulty adjusting to college, relationship problems, academic concerns, low self-esteem, depression, and anger, which are just a few of a wide array of concerns that students may present with at the counseling center. 

What if I have an emergency or crisis situation after Counseling and Wellness Center hours?
Call Campus police at (504) 520-7490, 911, or the 24 hour cope crisis hotline at 504-269-2673.
