BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Ernest Lawson is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Clinical & Administrative Sciences.  Dr. Lawson maintains an internal medicine practice site at the Medical Center of Louisiana at New Orleans where he conducts his Clinical Clerkship Course for the fourth-year pharmacy students and pharmacy practice residents.  He is a Licensed Pharmacist registered in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Dr. Lawson earned both his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry as well as his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Xavier University of Louisiana.  After graduating from Xavier, Dr. Lawson practiced pharmacy in the areas of retail, hospital and long-term care.  Embarking on his motivation and drive to become a clinical pharmacist and professor, he completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.  In addition, Dr. Lawson completed an Internal Medicine Specialty Residency at the Phoenix VA Health-Care System in Phoenix, Arizona.  He is certified in Adult Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

He is currently a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and the Louisiana Society of Health System Pharmacists (LSHP).

 

RESEARCH INTEREST

Dr. Lawson’s areas of research interests are cardiology, critical care medicine, and health disparities among African Americans.
