Dr. John Okogbaa is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy in the Division of Clinical and Administrative Sciences at Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy. Additionally, he is an Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans where he provides pharmaceutical care services to patients and precepts pharmacy students and residents. Dr. Okogbaa is currently the Residency Program Director for the PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Xavier University College of Pharmacy/Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. He is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Okogbaa received his dual Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The University of South Florida. Dr. Okogbaa earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Omaha, Nebraska. After receiving his PharmD degree, he completed an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists accredited pharmacy practice residency at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Okogbaa’s practice interests are in the area of internal medicine, cardiology, nephrology and endocrinology, specifically diabetes mellitus.
Dr. Okogbaa lectures in the following courses: Disease State Management I, Applied Pharmacokinetics, Pathophysiology, and Global Health Disparities.
Dr. Okogbaa is a member of American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, National Pharmaceutical Association, and The National Kidney Foundation.
