BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Tien L. Huang joined Xavier University of Louisiana in 1992 and has been a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the College of Pharmacy since 2003. Dr. Huang received his B.S. degree in Chemistry in 1979 from the University of Bombay, M.S. degree in Chemistry in 1985 from Wichita State University, and the Ph.D. degree in Medicinal Chemistry in 1989 from the University of the Pacific. He then completed two and a half years postdoctoral work in 1992 at the University of California in Davis. Dr. Huang currently teaches in the team-taught Medicinal Chemistry I and II sequence courses, and the Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences Laboratory. He is a member of Rho Chi, Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Xi, American Chemical Society and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

RESEARCH INTEREST

Dr. Huang’s research interests are in the design, synthesis and biological evaluation of novel small organic molecules as potential anti-opportunistic and anti-parasitic agents.
