Dr. Aruna's
scholarly, academic, and professional practice credentials include having
taught the pharmaceutics laboratory, Nonprescription Drugs and Products,
Geriatric Assessment, entry-level and Advanced Doctor of Pharmacy Pulmonary
Pharmacotherapy courses to pharmacy students at Xavier University of
Louisiana College of Pharmacy. He has also taught the sections on Caffeine
Addiction and Nicotine Addiction in the Drug Abuse Course. He has worked in
community and hospital pharmacy and has recommended the various routes of
medication administration to physicians and other health care professionals
and counseled patients on the purposes, advantages and disadvantages and
general pharmacoeconomic issues regarding dosage forms and different routes
of administration and the proper use of prescription and nonprescription
medications. Dr. Aruna is a former reviewer and scholarly contributor for the
Consultant Pharmacist Journal, and he is a fellow of the American Society of
Consultant Pharmacists. Dr. Aruna has also served as Expert Witness and
Consultant to Attorneys and the Federal Public Defenderâs Office on several
medical malpractice cases as well as on cases involving arrests for
trafficking in illicit drugs of abuse.
In addition to
numerous teaching honors including the Xavier University of Louisiana
College of Pharmacy Certificate Award for Outstanding Performance as
Laboratory Instructor for the Pharmaceutics Laboratory Course for the Spring
1991 semester, a similar award at Creighton University for tutoring
excellence and Certificate of Excellence from the Louisiana Pharmacists
Association in recognition for a distinguished teaching performance during
the NAPLEX review sessions for Northeast Louisiana and Xavier Universities
graduates preparing for the pharmacy licensing examination, Dr. Aruna has
been credentialed by the National Institute for Pharmacist Care Outcomes. He
is a manuscript reviewer for the Annals of pharmacotherapy and the Journal
of the American Pharmaceutical Association. He has published numerous
articles including ACPE-Approved Continuing Education articles
in peer-reviewed journals on a wide range of subjects.
