Dr. Sara Al-Dahir is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Clinical & Administrative Sciences. Dr. Al-Dahir maintains an internal medicine practice site at Louisiana State University Medical Center of Louisiana University Hospital here in New Orleans where she conducts her Clinical Clerkship Course for the fourth-year pharmacy students. Her practice focuses on a team based approach in critical care and trauma medicine and nutrition support. She is a Licensed Pharmacist registered in the state of Louisiana.
Dr. Al-Dahir earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Tulane University in Cell and Molecular Biology and History. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Xavier University of Louisiana. She has received her Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy Specialties (BCPS). She is also certified in Adult Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Prior to joining the faculty at Xavier, Dr. Al-Dahir was a practicing clinical pharmacist in internal medicine and critical care medicine, with a focus on nutrition support pharmacy. During this time she served as a pharmacy preceptor in the Xavier College of Pharmacy Professional Experience Program and lecturer in Parenteral Nutrition in the P3 Nutrition course. Dr. Al-Dahir currently teaches Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition in the Nutrition course for students in their third professional year. .
She is currently a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), Louisiana Society of Health System Pharmacists (LSHP), Rho Chi and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Societies. She is a board member of Gulf Medical Relief Fund, Inc, a non-profit international medical relief agency. |
