The class of 2003 at Xavier marked the end of their Asian Fusion week with a "Fusion New Year" celebration at the UC yard. The Confucius Institute was proud to support the event by funding the lion dance performance and provided a Chinese calligraphy demonstration station. Two staff from the Confucius Institute, Ms. Shu Peng, CI Administrative Specialist, and Mr. Gang Wang, CI Mandarin Instructor, taught students how to write Chinese characters and created bookmarks decorated with Chinese translation of students' names.
More than a hundred students participated in the event and many showed great interest in learning how to write Chinese characters. Ms. Peng and Mr. Wang also informed students of the Confucius Institues future events and Chinese language and cultural courses.
