A delegation from the Confucius Institute at Xavier University visited its partner, Hebei University in China, in July.
“The purpose of the trip was to solidify the partnership agreement with Hebei University,” said Rosalind Hale, chairwoman of the Division of Education at Xavier and leader of the delegation.
Meetings were held with administrators and faculty from the Colleges of Art, Education, Music and Pharmaceutical Sciences of Hebei. Topics included faculty and student exchanges, collaborative research and grant opportunities, Hale said.
Also discussed were possible courses that can be taught on each campus by visiting faculty members from the other country. While Hebei faculty members can offer courses in Chinese language, art, music and traditional herbal medicine, Xavier can provide courses in jazz, Western art, Western pharmaceutical sciences, field training methods in education and other topics in American culture.
