Housed in the Department of Communications, the Herald is designed, written, edited and distributed by students from across the curricula. Additionally, students from the Division of Business serve as business manager and ad sales representatives each semester. The students produce a minimum of 12 issues and print 24,000 copies per academic year. The Herald staff has won awards for reporting, design, and Web design/content from the Louisiana Press Association, Southeast Journalism Conference, Associated Collegiate Press, and other media-related organizations.
XAVIER HERALD ARCHIVES
Xavier University's yearbook, The Xavierite, is also housed in the Department of Communications. Students from all majors and disciplines work on the yearbook as designers, photographers, and copy editors and writers. Students are responsible for artistic designs, including the overall theme, cover, endsheets and sections. Students work year-round to produce the Xavierite and ensure it is a quality product that positively reflects Xavier's student body, mission, and founder St. Katharine Drexel.
