Web Planning Group

The Web Planning Advisory Group, chaired by Rosalind Chester, is a committee that has been meeting for the past three years to provide guidance in Xavier's web development efforts. The most active participants have been staff members whose responsibilities touch on web development to some degree. Faculty and students have attended sporadically.

The purposes of the committee are as follows:

  • to serve as a forum for exchanging information and finding solutions to technical problems and design issues related to web development at Xavier;
  • to plan for the expansion of in-house development of the University's website and web-based services;
  • to articulate a vision for web development at Xavier through official policies and procedures.

Accomplishments of the committee include:

  • to advise the University's Web Developer in implementing a new website design
  • to choose a content-management system
  • to recommend policies related to these efforts
  • to draft a report on requirements for a web portal
  • to inform the leadership about Xavier's web presence
  • to plan web server requirements, migrations and consolidations
  • to review media server capabilities and limitations (ongoing)
  • to draft a comprehensive internet development strategy (ongoing)
