Biographical Narrative

Dr. Ali earned a B.S. in Biochemistry in 2000, and received her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry in 2006 at the University of Texas at Austin. She worked on the development of three dimensional sensor arrays for the detection and amplification of nucleic acids and was a recipient of the Dorothy B. Banks research fellowship. Dr. Ali served as a postdoctoral fellow at Tulane University'Äôs School of Medicine from 2007-09 where she worked with miniaturized antibody sensors engineered for the detection of heavy metal contaminants. She joined Xavier University of Louisiana in 2010 as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry.

Research Interest

Dr. Ali'Äôs research interests are in the field of bioanalytical chemistry and include developing detection strategies for clinically relevant biomarkers. Specifically, she is interested in aptamer based sensor scaffolds for the direct and indirect detection of miRNAs, SNP'Äôs and protein biomarkers.
